Travytour wants its travel information and planning tools to be usable by as many people as reasonably possible, including people who use assistive technologies or access the website in different ways.
We are working to improve the accessibility, clarity and usability of travytour.com as the website develops.
Our accessibility approach
Travytour aims to work towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
This is an ongoing objective rather than a claim that every page or feature currently meets every WCAG success criterion. The website has not yet undergone a complete independent accessibility audit.
When designing, publishing and reviewing the website, we aim to consider:
- Clear heading structures and page organisation.
- Keyboard access to navigation and interactive controls.
- Visible keyboard focus.
- Sufficient colour contrast.
- Readable text and clear language.
- Responsive layouts that work across different screen sizes.
- Alternative text for meaningful images.
- Descriptive link text.
- Labels, instructions and useful error messages for forms.
- Reduced reliance on colour alone to communicate meaning.
Using Travytour
We aim to make it possible for visitors to:
- Navigate the main website using a keyboard.
- Zoom and enlarge text without losing essential content.
- Use the website on mobile phones, tablets and desktop devices.
- Understand pages through consistent headings and content structure.
- Access meaningful images with appropriate alternative text.
- Complete forms with clearly associated labels and instructions.
Browser, device and assistive-technology combinations can behave differently. We therefore continue to review the website as features and content are added or changed.
Known limitations
Some parts of Travytour may not yet provide an equally accessible experience in every situation.
Maps
Interactive maps may depend on OpenStreetMap or related third-party mapping technology. Map controls, markers and visual route information may be difficult to use with some screen readers, keyboard-only navigation or high levels of magnification.
Where practical, important destination or location information should also be provided in the surrounding article text rather than being available only through a map.
External websites and booking services
Travytour links to external tourism authorities, transport operators, accommodation providers, booking services, affiliate partners and other third-party websites.
We do not control the design, accessibility or technical operation of those external services. Their accessibility standards may differ from those of Travytour.
Embedded media
Videos, social-media embeds and other externally hosted content may have limitations relating to captions, transcripts, keyboard controls or screen-reader support.
Where Travytour produces or directly controls media, we aim to improve captions, text descriptions and supporting context where reasonably practical.
Older and imported content
Some older or imported articles may require further improvement to their heading structure, link descriptions, image alternative text or other accessibility details.
We are reviewing content progressively, with priority given to pages receiving significant traffic and pages containing important planning information.
Interactive tools
Features such as the Travel Budget Calculator, consent-preference controls and other interactive elements may behave differently across assistive technologies.
These tools require continued keyboard, screen-reader, zoom and mobile testing as they are updated.
Alternative ways to access information
When a page, tool, map or external feature is difficult to use, you may contact us and ask for the essential information in a more accessible format.
Depending on the material and the nature of the request, we may be able to provide:
- A plain-text explanation.
- A clearer summary of a table or visual element.
- Destination or route information without requiring use of a map.
- Help locating the relevant information on the website.
- Another reasonable accessible format where practical.
We cannot guarantee that every external document or third-party service can be converted, but we will review reasonable requests.
Reporting an accessibility problem
We welcome feedback about accessibility barriers on Travytour.
Email: contact@travytour.com
To help us investigate, please include where possible:
- The address of the affected page.
- A brief description of the problem.
- What you were trying to do or access.
- The browser and device you were using.
- Any assistive technology you were using.
- The format or solution that would help you.
Please do not send passwords, passport information, payment details, booking documents or sensitive medical information.
We aim to respond to accessibility enquiries within 5 business days. More complex corrections or technical changes may take longer, but we will try to explain the next steps where appropriate.
Continuous improvement
Accessibility is considered as part of Travytour’s continuing editorial and technical work.
As the website grows, we intend to:
- Review important templates and interactive features.
- Improve image descriptions and content structure.
- Test keyboard navigation and visible focus.
- Review colour contrast and responsive behaviour.
- Improve forms, validation messages and instructions.
- Record and prioritise accessibility problems reported by visitors.
- Reassess this statement when significant features or services change.
